Cusianagas clarifies the causes of the increase in the price of gas services

Cusianagas S.A. E.S.P., committed to its users, and in order to provide clarity about the reasons for the increases perceived in the value of the gas service in the last period, hereby informs the following:

  • The Company strictly complies with the application of the tariff formula set forth in Resolution CREG 137 of 2013, to settle the value of the gas service to the end user.
  • Among the different variables contemplated for this liquidation are the values corresponding to the purchase and transportation of natural gas per cubic meter. These two variables are settled on a monthly basis according to the price of the dollar.
  • Due to the drop in the price of oil, the price of the dollar increased close to 15% between March and April. The settlement of tariffs for March was based on a TRM (Market Representative Rate) of $3,539.86; while for April it rose to $4,064.81, directly impacting the cost of natural gas service for this period.
  • Additionally, it is important to mention that with the declaration of the state of Economic, Social and Ecological Emergency and the mandatory isolation measures, there has been an inevitable increase in residential consumption in the different services, with values that can be between 20% to 30% depending on the service and the region, which necessarily implies a higher value to be paid.
  • However, Cusianagas SA ESP has worked on different relief measures and has accepted the provisions of the National Government so that our users can amortize the payment of their service. You can learn about these measures in the press release of April 17, available on our website www.cusianagas.com.

In addition, and despite the contingency, the company has made available all its equipment to implement normal readings, so that our users are charged fairly according to their gas consumption.

Cusianagas S.A. E.S.P. reiterates its commitment of solidarity with the community and with its main purpose, which is to continue providing a safe and continuous service, so that your homes can enjoy the benefits of natural gas. Therefore, we offer the following tips to make a conscious and rational use of the service:

  • At the end of cooking remember to close the register and knobs when not in use.
  • Keep in mind not to use pots with a deformed base or with soot, as this increases gas consumption.
  • The size of the burner should not exceed the size of the pot or pan so that the heat does not escape, as it takes longer to heat up.
  • Remember to cover your pots and pans while cooking to save natural gas.
  • Once you boil the food, it reaches the highest temperature and will start to evaporate. From that moment on, you will only be wasting the flame and therefore the gas.
  • Use the pressure cooker, so the cooking time is reduced.
  • When using the oven, avoid opening the door too much, as it loses heat and delays the completion of the food, generating more gas expense.
  • Be sure to use natural gas in ventilated spaces.

We remind our users that we continue to address their concerns through the 038 6819086 hotline from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., continuous working hours. We also attend your emergencies 24 hours a day on lines 164, landline 6819085 and toll free line 018000936521.
